But biggest-yet AMOLED TV will not be available on market
Samsung is showing a biggest-yet 31in Active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) screen at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin. However, the model is not available to buy.
Also shown was an array of 14in AMOLED TVs with wafer-thin screens. Sony is showing an 11in OLED TV – see our Test Bed report for pictures – that is going on sale in Europe, though the company has not said when.
The 31in Samsung HD (1920x1080 pixels) screen is just 3.8mm wide and has a claimed response time of less than 0.1 milliseconds.
Samsung in showing an array of compact cameras using AMOLED screens and ‘supporting HD’, by which the company means that stills will display at full resolution on an HD screen.
