Microsoft Office documents and photos on web drive can be edited via browser – even by free subscribers
Online storage provider Humyo is offering web-based applications free to users – including those using its free basic service.
The system, set up in partnership with online apps provider Zumo.com, means users can now edit images and Microsoft Office documents via a browser whether or not their machine is running Windows.
It also allows them to stream high-def video directly from the Humo site. Image-editing features (see screenshot above) include cropping, resizing and colour adjustment.
Humyo says it now has 400,000 subscribers. The entry-level free service provides 10GB of storage, with browser-only access limited to download speeds of 512Kbits/sec.
Premium subscribers, who pay £49.99 a year for 100GB, can use a dedicated client module that presents your Humyo storage to your PC as an extra drive with synchronising facilities to ensure up-to-date backup.
