Service provider is second in a month to hit trouble
Tiscali UK has issued a statement denying that the broadband access of its million UK subscribers is under threat because of financial problems.
And it attacked the broadband comparison site Top 10 Broadband for " irresponsibility" in suggesting otherwise as a way of driving traffic to its site.
The statement said: "We can assure customers that there will be no impact on their broadband services and support of services will continue as usual.
"Some press articles have failed to highlight the positive news, which is that our banks are continuing to support us, and we are confident of the future of our business."
Tiscali is the second UK service provider to hit trouble in a month. Thousands of Prodigy Internet customers have been left without a connection after the Sheffield-based service provider was cut off by its supplier BT, according to Top 10 Broadband.
There was talk of Tiscali UK, the British arm of the Italian-owned company, being bought out by Carphone Warehouse but that now seems unlikely. Tiscali has said talks over a sale to Sky have stalled.
Top 10 Broadband marketing manager Jessica McArdle warned in a press release: "The problems suffered by two high-profile ISPs suggest that more broadband providers could be hit in months to come."
Tiscali UK said in a statement: "We are reviewing our legal position on this press release."
Top 10 Broadband later issued a statement saying that after speaking with Tiscali it agreed that its press release “might have caused unnecessary concern* to subscribers.
The statement added: “We understand from Tiscali that its lending banks are continuing to support the company and any suggestions that customers could be switched off are speculative and unhelpful. We have apologised for this and retracted the release.”

TalkTalk sharp practices
I was phoned by a TalkTalk representative a few weeks ago who tried to get me to sign up to their broadband service. When I said that I was a Tiscali customer he said "You do know that they are about to go bankrupt?" That seems like a rather underhand way for one of Tiscali's competitors to behave and can only serve to exacerbate the financial problems that Tiscali have.

Tiscali cut-off
I have been with Tiscali 2 years and have not had any major problems. They offer VERY GOOD terms and I hope they do survive. I do agree the customer services could be a lot better although I have only had to contact them twice and one problem was cured in 4 hours.

Tiscali for more than five years.
I have been with Tiscali for more than 5 years without any major problems. I bought the 1st PC in 2002 and signed up (with dial-up) with Freeserve for over six months. It was abysmal! Before Freeserve became Wanadoo, I moved to Tiscali for cheap Broadband.. I have approximately 2 mess ups, or less, a year which are put right ( I'm back online) in half to 7 days. Tiscali is great as long as you can communicate on line. As soon as you have to talk to them, the problems start! They have consistantly offered the best deal for what I want. I get up to 8mbs broadband, free anytime landline and no line rental. The whole lot costs me £19.99 per month. I've never found anybody who offered the same!

tiscali broadband
I have been with Tiscali for a number of years and am highly satisfied with the performance. Queries have been dealt with albeit sometimes slow but the end result has been satisfactory. Wouldn't want to change. Have tried others and they are worse. My nephew was visited by a Talktalk sales person who told him that Tiscali was going bankcrupt. How underhand is that. ?

Tiscali
We have been with Tiscali/Line One since 2002. Using Dial Up/ADSL Broadband. My problems have been with their accounts department in India, and their technical help on a premium rate number which on 2 occasions has been useless. Pound for pound though. Tiscali cannot be beaten

no probs with tiscali
i have never had any problems with Tiscali whatsoever in nearly three years.i have 8mb broadband and anytime calls all for a great price.when i read Tiscali reviews they are always people moaning and this tends to give a one sided view of the company so it is good to say something positive. i certainly dont inteend changing isp.

Tiscali service
I have been with Line One/Tiscali for both dial up and broadband/telephone since 2000. I am completely satisfied with their product. I am told by insiders that every server has it's shortcomings and most more so and deeper than Tiscali. Difficulties with computers inevitably engenders ill-feeling but I have found that if anger can be contained and civility and good humour used when dealing with distant support departments then it seems to produce a suitable outcome. I receive, almost on a daily basis, shiny adverts from rival companies, trumpeting their wonderful product. This is accompanied by extremely faint and miniscule caveats as to what is NOT on offer. This leaves me hoping that Tiscali will come through this troubled period and prosper- they deserve to.

Tiscali is stopping broadband connections
I joined Tiscali August 2008. Since March 31st to date (April 29th) I have been without broadband. Spent a fortune on 0871 help numbers where they insist I ring BT to remove a tag yet I am with Tiscali Talk. BT naturally refuse to speak with me. I now email Tiscali on a daily basis, sometimes more than once begging for someone to telephone me to explain what is happening.... noone telephones me, they just politely say sorry they are doing what they can etc. This is the worst service I have ever had from any company. A month with no broadband and they refuse to communicate with me or say what is wrong or what they are going to do. I am not alone in this. Tiscali - do not touch with a barge pole. They are fine until your broadband ceases, then they dont care in the slightest.
