New memory supports next generation Opteron processors

Kingston announces latest ValueRam DDR2 memory modules

Kingston Technology released new memory modules today: the ValueRam DDR2 ECC and Registered ECC.

These modules have been developed to support the next generation of AMD Opteron processors.

AMD launched its new server processors on Tuesday and indicated that it expected compatible DDR2 modules to be part of a platform which will facilitate an easy upgrade to quad core next year.

The new memory modules, which come in sizes of 256 MB, 512 MB, 1GB, and 2GB, run at up to 667MHz and are capable of higher data bandwidths. They also consume less power, working together with AMD’s PowerNow! technology.

ValueRAM is Kingston's low cost brand aimed at the high performance computing market.
