Update: Company delays statement on what it means for UK users
Tiscali UK, Britain's third largest DSL broadband provider, made no comment today about news that its Italian parent company has been suspended from trading for "excessive losses".
The service provider, which claims 1.2 million UK broadband customers, announced on Friday that is asking bankers to suspend interest payments following the breakdown of talks with BSkyB on the purchase of its UK arm.
It blamed the breakdown on a deterioration in market conditions. Analysts quoted by Reuters said a sale was likely to go ahead, but not necessarily under terms shareholders will like.
A spokesman for the company said a statement will probably be issued tomorrow.
