Location-based service uses Openzone hotspots
BT Openzone has launched a six-month pilot of new information service for any wireless device connecting to its central London Wifi hotspots.
Users register their interests and preferences with the BT Myplace service and are sent information about shops, restaurants, events, transport and other attractions in their locality.
Information, including some you normally have to pay for, comes from partners including Time Out, Love Theatre, Kodak, Londonpass, audible.com, and Westminster City Council.
BT Myplace is free, financed by sponsors, but use of the wider internet incurs the usual charges.
Chris Bruce, general manager of BT Openzone, said: “Unlike a classic city guide, BT Myplace is personalised to your interests and location.”
