Latest version of Onetouch hard disk drive fits in your pocket
Maxtor has launched its first 2.5in portable hard disk drive designed to appeal to mobile professionals.
The Onetouch III Mini Edition drive weighs just 7oz and comes in 60GB and 100GB varieties.
Like its larger Onetouch cousins, the drive comes with a number of software features including automated backup, data encryption, data synchronisation and System Rollback, to restore applications and operating system while keeping digital files current.
Its Sync software automatically synchronises files between two or more computer systems, which Maxtor claimed made backing up systems easy to do.
Maxtor said the decision to release the Mini Edition was in response to the growing number of mobile workers.
According to IDC, the global mobile worker population will grow by more than 200 million users between 2004 and 2009 to hit 850 million.
Shipping now, the 60GB and 100GB versions are priced at £99 and £149, respectively.
