Deal with Nero brings set-top-box features to the desktop
Time-shift TV pioneer Tivo is teaming up with software house to develop a package that will put the features and interface of its set-top-box on to a PC.
A package, including a TV and remote control, goes on sale in the US, Canada and Mexico for $199 (£107) in October.
But it is expected to go on sale in Europe early next year. Nero will sell the software separately for $99 for people who already have a tuner.
This includes a year's subscription to Tivo's electronic programme guide, which costs $99 a year.
Windows Vista offers a free program guide but the companies evidently believe people will prefer Tivo's.
