Iomega ships 2TB home drive

Perfect for anyone who wants to store a hundred or so high-def movies

Iomega has doubled the capacity of its server drive storage line to an impressive 2TB with the introduction of a new Storcenter Pro NAS 150d Server drive.

The 2TB version is being targeted at small businesses, creative professionals and “advanced” home PC users with lots of high-definition content to store.

It is based around four internal 500GB SATA-II hard disk drives in a RAID 0 configuration and comes with Gigabit Ethernet connectivity and four USB2 ports for printer and hard drive connection.

The server drive can be configured for Raid 1 and Raid 5 data protection and comes bundled with EMC’s Retrospect Express backup software which is licensed for use on up to five PCs. The drive is compatible Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems and comes with a standard two-year warranty.

The 2TB drive, already available in the US, will cost around £1,000 when it launches here in a few months. The existing 1TB version costs £550.
