It will be available for download on April 29, says Microsoft
The Service Pack 3 bundle of tweaks and updates for Windows XP will be available for download on April 29, Microsoft has announced in a Technet blog.
The code has already been “released to manufacture’’, which means it is being distributed to PC makers for pre-installation on new machines.
Automatic updates to SP3, for those who have not downloaded the code, will begin in early summer.
Microsoft says some enhancements of SP3, including Network Access Protection, will facilitate the management of corporate networks using both XP and Vista PCs.
