Deal ends months of uncertainty for subscribers
Talktalk is buying the UK arm of service provider Tiscali, ending months of uncertainty for its 1.8 million subscribers.
The £236m deal will make Talktalk Britain's biggest consumer broadband provider with more than 4.25 million subscribers, the company says.
BSkyB, The Carphone Warehouse and Vodaphone have all been named over the past few months as potential buyers of Tiscali UK, whose Italian parent company has had financial problems.
Last month, Tiscali UK rushed out a statement denying that the broadband access of its million-plus UK subscribers was under threat and accused broadband comparison site Top 10 Broadband of "irresponsibility" for suggesting otherwise.
Clearly, the company feared defections by subscribers whose businesses or work relied on their broadband links. Talktalk itself compounded the threat by offering a £50 discount to Tiscali subscribers switching to its service.
The Tiscali purchase is due to be completed by the end of June. Meanwhile Talktalk says Tiscali subscribers need to do nothing to maintain their connection and that they will be able to retain their current email addresses. For more details see here.

God help you
God help you, I have used a great number of ISPs over my time on the net and by far Talk Talk is the worst for product and customer service. If you are with Tiscali now MOVE before talk talk take over

Properly inphormed?
One obvious question for Tiscali subscribers - does this statement still apply? http://www.ispreview.co.uk/news/EkkZpppFupuULnyMdM.html For further information visit http://www.inphormationdesk.org

Yes, God help them
TalkTalk has been my worst experience ever. If you are a TalkTalk customer don't ever think of moving house and taking your TalkTalk account with you it's a nightmare that never seems to go away. We must all be mugs and they are laughing all the way to the Bank.

God help us all....2
Tried TalkTalk a few years ago...they were a total waste of space. I am with Tiscali at the moment, so will have to see if there is any improvement, but I won't hold my breath. Shame all this, as I never had a problem with Tiscali.

What broadband???
I have had no broadband connection with Tiscali since 4th April. Customer service is totally useless yet they still take my monthly subscription. I don't know where this latest news leaves me.

"God Help Us" Don't know why
I have been with TalkTalk for the past three years, ok they had some problems in their infancy mainly due to an overwhelming demand for their service. It was and still is reasonably priced in my opinion, I have the full package line rental, free calls except mobiles 0845 etc and a fast enough broadband connection for my needs 6 - 7 Mbps a couple of problems promptly dealt with via free phone call. I have no complaints.

Plusnet instead?
Plusnet is currently offering 3 months free to ex-Tiscali customers, if you're interested. I was previously with TalkTalk for 18 months, and would rather pull all my fingernails out than go back to them!
