Speakers and iPod Blueye to control a mobile phone
Gear4 is releasing an iPod alarm clock called the HouseParty 24/7.
The 2.1 speaker unit has six watts per channel and a sub-woofer on its underbelly. It also houses an FM/AM radio and an auxiliary input to connect devices such as a laptop. A remote control is included that gives you full control over the speakers, radio and iPod.
The £99 speakers are available immediately, and we’ll be getting a set in for review this week. Once tested, we’ll post a review on PCW's website.
Gear4 marketing manager Tom Old claimed the sound quality was “in a different league” to the company’s £70 House Party 2 iPod speakers.
The company is also launching an iPod inline remote similar to Apple's version that adds FM radio reception and controls any video or Nano iPod. The Blueye goes one further by connecting to a Bluetooth-enabled phone.
The clip-on remote houses a microphone and can be used to make and receive calls without digging your phone out of your bag or jacket. Its purpose is to ensure you never miss a call as a result of loud music being played.
The £49.99 Blueye should be available at the end of October, and does a similar job to the Mavizen Blueye, which we reviewed some months ago. Again, once available, we’ll get the Gear4 Blueye in for review.
