Video and audio software products to stay with Pinnacle owner Avid
Avid Technology is selling its Pinnacle PCTV line to rival Hauppauge Technology, in a deal announced yesterday. The terms were not disclosed.
Avid will retain Pinnacle video and audio software products, such as its Studio and Dazzle lines. The Showcenter line, which streams home digital content via a Pinnacle box to a TV, will remain with Pinnacle.
Avid chief executive Gary Greenfield said the company aimed to focus on software applications that met consumer demand and complemented its portfolio of video and audio products.
He said: "PCTV is a compelling standalone hardware product and a better fit for Hauppauge."
The deal is expected to close before the end of the year. The companies said in a statement that they would work closely to ensure a smooth transition for distribution partners and users before the Christmas season.
The statement added: "Following the closing of transaction, Hauppauge expects to continue developing and supporting both the hardware and software components of the PCTV line."
