New models in Ixus, Powershot and Eos ranges announced
Canon today announced four new consumer digicams along with the world's fastest digital SLR, the Eos-1D Mark III.
Both the Ixus 70 and Ixus 75 (£249 and £269) sport 7.1megapixel CCDs and come with face detection technology to ensure focus and exposure is optimised when taking portrait shots.
Canon has furnished both models with ISO 1600 settings for low-light shots, but has been reluctant to follow Fujifilm's lead in opting for an ultra-high sensitivity ISO 3200.
The A560 and A570 IS (£209 and £249) join Canon's Powershot range, with the latter housing an image stabilising feature to eliminate camera shake, while both models include face detection.
Canon is also looking to tempt professional photographers to upgrade with the introduction of the Eos-1D Mark III. Able to capture 10 frames per second, up to a maximum of 110 shots, it will appeal to sports and nature photographers, while the 3in LCD's Live View mode provides and alternative to the optical viewfinder. Pricing and availability is yet to be announced.
All were launched as part of Canon's Spring Collection event, which saw over 40 product announcements spanning cameras, printers, digital video cameras and projectors.
