TUC site lets you compare pay within and across companies, and find detailed information about your employer
Staff can get detailed information about the company employing them at a new website set up by the Trades Union Congress (TUC).
The site offers details of profits, shareholders, unions (or lack or them), and staff pay and pensions compared to the remuneration of directors.
Much of the information has previously been available only to people prepared to wade through annual reports of the 7,000 British companies about which the TUC has detailed information.
You can also enter what you were earning five years ago to find out how much you would now be be paid if your earnings had increased at the same rate as that of your bosses.
You can also compare your pay with what others get for doing the same job at different firms.
The site draws on a number of sources, including Companies House, Bureau Van Dijk's FAME database, the Labour research department's Payline database, Paywizard , and the TUC Pensions Watch.
TUC Assistant General Secretary Kay Carberry said: "The TUC will continue adding to this search tool to give current and prospective employees as much information about UK plc as possible."
