Yahoo names top UK websites

Sheep poo, cows and the paparazzi among chosen themes

Yahoo has announced its favourite British websites from 2006 in its Finds of the Year Awards.

A panel of judges made up of four technology journalists, two Yahoo employees and a winner from last year voted in nine different categories.

Yahoo has left their People's Choice Award open until January 15th 2007 and the winner will be announced the following day. The winners are:

Best charity site: Cowforce, charity Send a Cow raises money to pay for livestock in Africa.

Best ehical site: Sheep Poo Paper, which offers handcrafted papers and paper products including Sheep Poo Paper.

Best educational site: Film Street, teaches the art of filmmaking.

Most innovative site: Pledge Bank, where people can promise help to charities or causes provided others also contribute.

Most resourceful site: iSporty.com, social networking focused on sport.

Best travel site: Geograph, a project collecting photographs of and information about every square kilometre of the UK and Ireland.

Best weird and wonderful site: Trolley Spotting, a project looking into abandoned shopping trolleys.

Best shopping site: Split the Atom, a T-shirt company where customers suggest an idea which is rated before the winning designs are put on sale.

Best entertainment site: Mr Paparazzi, lets people sell their own celebrity pictures through Big Pictures, the world's biggest celebrity picture agency.
