Spam over internet telephony filter blocks strangers but allows calls from friends of friends
Researchers are working on a new way of stopping spitting, or space over internet telephony.
The spread of VoIP, which can make voice calls virtually costless like email, is making automated mass calling financially viable and is already a problem on Skype.
Researchers at the Helsinki Institute for IT (HIT) are creating a filtering system what would allow people to accept a call from friends of friends, or even friends of friends of friends.
But the person called would be informed that the caller is a stranger, and give the choice of whether to accept, according to a report on Science Daily.
