Opera and Bios developer Phoenix team up to offer instant acess independent of operating system
Browser developer Opera and Bios specialist Phoenix are teaming up to give mobile PCs near-instant access to the web without booting into Windows.
The fast-loading Opera browser will be optimised for Hyperspace, a Phoenix-developed boot environment that allows utilities to run independently from the operating system.
Phoenix claims the system can add up to two hours to the battery life by minimal use of resources.
The two companies say the Opera browser will allw you to browse the web, read and written emails, and conduct secure transactions within seconds of turning on.
Phoenix chief executive Woody Hobbs said users will be able to toggle in and out of Hyperspace even when Windows is running.
The environment will support other instant-on applications including media players and instant messaging.

Good news for me
Anything that helps get away from constant IE crashes in Vista is great news for me and with any luck we will soon be seeing this type of instant access on desktops as well, What a fantastic idea to get online without having to go through an OS, I Like it.
