An easy way to get Sky+ content from your digibox onto DVD
Q What hardware or software is required to download a
program from the hard drive of a Sky+ digibox onto a PC and then burn this to a
DVD?
Ian Leckenby
A This process is more complex than you may imagine. It is technically possible with free-to-air content, but requires the hard drive to first be removed from the Sky+, then fitted to a PC, before using software to copy the files across.
Extract+ is one of the most popular programs. Once the files are on your PC, they’ll need to be repackaged for subsequent burning onto a DVD. This process is not possible with encrypted content.
A much easier alternative is to simply connect a DVD recorder to the video outputs of your Sky+ and record the content in real time. There will inevitably be some loss in quality, but it’s much less hassle. In either case, please also be aware of copyright infringement.
