Q A while ago in PCW, you suggested a
Belkin
F1U200v as a solution for sharing a USB peripheral between multiple PCs. This
sounds very useful, but I can’t find anyone in the UK selling it. Can you
recommend anything similar available here?
Ken Monk
A The Belkin F1U200v allows you to share a single USB peripheral between up to four PCs but, you’re right, it is no longer on sale in the UK.
There are a number of alternatives including two- and four-port models from Lindy.
Lindy also offers a four-port sharing hub that allows two PCs to share up to four USB peripherals.
Additionally, Belkin offers a two-port USB switch (model F1DF102UUK) for around £18 from a variety of sources including Amazon, Dabs and Ebuyer. These switches may not work with all types of printers, so it’s worth doing a little research first to see if they’re compatible with the devices you have in mind.
