Stop add-ins loading and unwanted messages appearing in Word 2003
Q Since I installed the Microsoft Office Live Toolbar, Word 2003 displays a message that ‘Changes have been made that affect the global template, Normal.dot’ and asks if I would like to save them.
Is there a way I can disable the toolbar to see if this is the culprit? If I hide it from View Toolbars or delete it from Tools, Customise, it comes back the next time I start Word.
I have also checked Templates and Add-ins and Com Add-ins as well as the various Start-up folders and read the KB291352 article but unfortunately I have found no solution.

A You can suppress the message from Tools, Options, Save, but this doesn’t stop the actual saving. Starting winword.exe from the Windows Run box with the /a switch will stop all add-ins loading. This should cure the problem on a one-off basis.
To disable add-ins individually, close Word, make a System Restore point then run Regedit. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins.
Each add-in will have its own key and the Office Live one is named OLConnectorAddin.Connect. There will be a value in the right-hand pane named LoadBehavior. Double-click on this and change its value to 0. This will stop it loading changing this back to 3 will reinstate it.
