APC Back-UPS ES

Protect your PC from surges and blackouts

APC's Back-UPS ES might look like just a multi-plug adapter, but it's also a passive standby UPS. It won't condition the power supply, but it will protect you from surges and blackouts.

A total of five sockets are provided - two offer just surge protection while the other three provide both surge protection and battery backup.

The battery is capable of supplying 500VA although, depending on the number and type of devices being powered, you're only likely to get around five minutes of juice.

This is hardly surprising considering the small size of the battery and should be enough time for the PC to save files, which can automated via the included software, and power down properly.
