A cheap broadband package, but with a small usage cap
Since signing up with Nildram, the service has run well with only a handful of very short outages – certainly no worse than other broadband providers I’ve used. I regularly achieved speeds just short of the stated 2Mbits/sec.
Throughout the trial I have had no reason to contact customer support, although their email to tell me I’d gone over the 1GB cap became a monthly occurrence. I don’t download any music or videos, but all those driver updates take their toll.
The good news was that towards the end of October, Nildram increased the inclusive data of my £15.99 package from 1GB to 2.5GB per month, which should cover my requirements. That said, I think I’d personally pay slightly more for an unmetered account next time, as this is a small usage cap.
The only other downside to the service is that unlike many rivals, it charges a set up fee of £47, although this should be offset by the fact that the monthly fee is one of the cheapest on test.

Our verdict
Overall: Inexpensive and great for light Internet users because of its small monthly usage limit
