A great way to take your software apps with you if you don't have a laptop
The Kingston U3 Data Traveler is the first U3 device we’ve seen and it looks like a platform with some potential, but its success is totally dependent on software developers buying into it.
The idea is that you can run special U3-format applications directly on the USB drive when connected to any available PC.
No data is written to or from the host PC for the apps to run, making them ideal for use in Internet cafes.
At the moment, the available programs are a mixed bag of free and paid-for synchronisation tools, browsers, photo managers, virus scanners, email clients and even a Skype client.
Applications install quickly and easily and the U3 Launchpad runs from the PC’s system tray.
