A silent graphics card for those that want a quiet PC
Silent graphics cards that offer reasonable gaming performance are thin on the ground, so any addition to the ranks is always welcome. Asus already has a silent card based on Nvidia’s Geforce 6600 GPU, but has now released a silent version of the more powerful 6600GT, the Extreme N6600GT.
Based on a standard 256MB 6600GT, the card is the first to use Asus’s latest Silentcool technology, which on this card consists of a main cooler made from aluminium with a copper base and two additional copper heatsinks.
The coolers can be adjusted so they fit a number of different case situations. In testing, it achieved a 3Dmark05 score of 3,813, so it's performance sits in the middle compared to other Nvidia 6600GT cards we've seen.
Our only gripe with the N6600GT Silencer is the amount of space it requires
