Simple clear advice in plain English

AJP T200C

Versatile and packed full of features.

If you're looking for something more flexible than your average notebook, you would be wise to check out a convertible Tablet PC. One such offering is the T200C from AJP.

At the heart of the system is a 1.5GHz Intel Pentium M processor and 512MB of Ram. As a Centrino model, it has onboard 802.11g as well.

Its core performance in common tasks was satisfactory. It returned a good Sysmark 2004 score of 109, but the graphics mean it won't handle the latest 3D games.

We were disappointed to find just two USB2 ports, but it has an four-in-one memory card reader and 60GB hard disk.

The T200C's most interesting feature is its 14.1in display. By undoing two clips at either side, the screen can be swivelled 180 deg and laid flat against the keyboard. This allows you to carry the T200C on your forearm using the pen stylus. This works well on the whole, but its 2.6kg frame could become uncomfortable.

For £999 ex VAT, you also get an external DVD rewriter drive plus a carry case. There isn't much in the way of software, but you get a copy of Roxio's disc creation package and WinDVD.

Two hours and 24 minutes of battery life isn't particularly impressive, but it should be enough to last the average user through the day. The T200C is a very capable notebook that provides good performance, ease of use and value for money.
