Simple clear advice in plain English

Tiny Mediabook64 3200+

A great offer you really can't afford to miss.

Weighing 3.9kg, the Mediabook64 3200+ is quite heavy, but has a comprehensive range of multimedia features, including a 128MB ATI 9600 graphics card and a dual-format DVD recorder. There's also a four-in-one card reader and 802.11b Wifi.

An Athlon 64 3200+ mobile processor is supported by 1GB of DDR-Ram and an 80GB hard disk. The Athlon 64 uses power-saving technology, which is in operation even when the notebook is connected to the mains and returns seemingly puny benchmark scores. The Sysmark 2004 score was just 75, although a better indication of performance is the 3Dmark 2003 score of 7,395.

Although there was some slight springiness to the keyboard, we were satisfied with the overall build quality of the Mediabook.

The audio quality of the integrated stereo speakers, which sit immediately below the screen hinge, was surprisingly good, although they are rather quiet. We had no complaints about the quality of the 15in LCD screen, though, which is bright with fairly standard viewing angles.

The notebook is on a seven-day special offer on the Tiny.com website, available from 8 June. However, readers of PCW have access to the special price until 24 June - just ring the provided number and quote PCW and the issue (July). At £999 it's great value, but be quick to make sure you don't miss out.
