A great gaming PC with SLI technology
The Duel sports an Asus A8N SLI motherboard, built around an Nvidia Nforce 4 chipset. Nestling in its Socket 939 is an Athlon64 3500+ processor, clocked at 2.2GHz, paired with a healthy 1GB of DDR400 memory. The combination gives an average yet acceptable core performance, but more exciting is the system's Scalable Link Interface graphics technology.
Evesham has made good use of this feature with a pair of Nvidia Geforce 6600 GT-based graphics cards. The benefits of two graphics cards is noticeable in games and applications that demand significant graphics processing power. The Duel recorded a strong 3Dmark total of 5,604 and we ran Far Cry at its maximum resolution (1,600 x 1,200) with 4x anti-aliasing and 4x anisotropic filtering and got an average frame rate of 34fps.
To take full advantage of the Duel's gaming prowess, Evesham has installed a Creative Audigy ZS soundcard and supplies a Viewsonic VG171s monitor. The screen has a fast 8ms response time and eliminates the 'ghosting' effects.
On the whole, the Evesham Duel is impressive. It provides good value for money, strong gaming performance and decent all-round specs.
