Simple clear advice in plain English

AJP Neo4

A desktop boasting good connectivity and a space-saving design.

With a tiny 35.5 x 18.9cm footprint, the all-in-one Neo4 from AJP is proof that downsizing need not always be regarded as a dirty word.

It may be small, but the Neo4 certainly packs a punch, with an Intel P4 2.6GHz processor and 512MB of DDR-Ram at its heart. It scored a decent 231 in Sysmark so should be able to handle just about any job you are likely to throw at it.

The Neo4 also put in a decent performance in both 3Dmark and Jedi Knight, racking up scores of 4,677 and 59.3 frames per second respectively, making this system more than adequate for gaming.

AJP's latest offering also boasts an array of connectivity options including Firewire, four USB ports, onboard 10/100 Ethernet and a 56K modem. There's a parallel port, a 15pin serial port and a VGA port to hook up an additional monitor as well.

Not an inch of space is wasted on this model, with the floppy drive and an 8x 8x 24x 8x CD-RW/DVD combo mounted on the left-hand side of the 1.5in LCD monitor and two PC Type II cards on the right.

Theoretically, the Neo4 does offer an upgrade path, albeit a limited one, as you might expect in a PC of this size.

Upgrading the hard disk is a simple operation, involving the removal of a single screw in a separate corner panel at the back of the machine and slotting a new hard disk into the assembly case.

Upgrading memory in the two Dimm slots however, requires the removal of the entire back panel of the monitor; the user manual recommends you seek assistance with this task.
