Devolo MicroLink dLAN Ethernet

Networking via your electricity cables

Comprising two Homeplug adapters and a pair of Ethernet cables, the Microlink Dlan Starter Kit lets you use your existing home electricity cables to build a basic network. It's aimed at the networking novice or those who want to extend an existing home network with the minimum of fuss.

The Microlink is one of the simplest product's we have ever installed. One end of each cable slots into the RJ-45 ports on the plugs, which are then plugged into a wall socket, while the other ends connect to either your router or PC.

The optional software installs in minutes and we were immediately able to get online from a second PC. Obviously, you have to allow internet sharing and, if desired, folder and file sharing in Windows.

At £100 it is an expensive way to build a home network, although we found it for less online, but it's a great way to quickly network any room and works with products such as games consoles and IP phones as well as PCs.
