Review: Devolo Dlan 200AVeasy powerline networking

Updated Homeplug device, now with easier security

Since the Homeplug AV specification was launched back in 2006, we haven’t seen any significant improvements in powerline networking.

Devolo has followed the lead of other manufacturers by releasing an updated version of its Homeplug AV device that we first saw in our group test (PCW, October 2007).

The only addition is a physical button next to the Lan port to facilitate effective encryption.

Since most will be using them on a separate mains ring to their neighbours, enhanced encryption isn’t totally necessary, but it does give peace of mind.
