Pirate Isles is a simple game all about gold, with the aim being to grab more gold than your opponents.

Play takes place on an island split into a grid of between 4 x 4 and 12 x 12 squares, depending on your choice.

You begin the game on your pirate ship and a dice is rolled to determine the number of squares you can move. You can then sail your ship around the island or send a pirate ashore to look for gold. Gold is only added to your score once it's returned to the ship.

By walking into the same square as an opponent you attack them, which makes them run scared and leave their gold behind.

Alternatively, pirates still on the ship can fire warning shots at opponents to send them running back to their ship.

Various (and sometime bizarre) obstacles hinder your search, including swamps, tornadoes and elephants.

Up to four people can play in any combination, as long as there is at least one human and one computer player.
