Symantec
has unveiled Backup Exec 12 for Windows Servers offering server-to-desktop
Windows data protection.
Backup Exec 12 has been designed to integrate with other Symantec products,
including ThreatCon, Enterprise Vault and the recently announced Symantec
Protection Network for accessing offsite storage.
The company is also claiming faster backup and restore speeds for Microsoft
Exchange, SQL Server, Active Directory and SharePoint environments, and "
support for non-Microsoft environments".
"Backup Exec 12 is a primary example of Symantec's commitment to deliver
timely and efficient backup and recovery solutions for our customers' evolving
Windows needs," said Pat Hanavan, vice president of product management at
Symantec.
"The new multi-product integration capabilities introduced in Backup Exec 12
allow customers to secure, back up and archive critical data to help reduce IT
risk and manage cost."
Pricing for Symantec Backup Exec 12 starts at $995 per server.
